Intercultural visit to Hsi Lai Temple

Have you ever visited a far away place that seem so different from what you know and understand? Maybe you've wondered about other cultures and who we relate to them here at home. This is an opportunity to visit Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights. This is an opportunity for us to have an intercultural learning experience as a group. Please join us at the WACC parking lot at 9 am on Saturday, October 14 for a brief discussion about how we will be going in a learning posture. This is the largest Buddhist Temple in the west. It was built to serve as a spiritual and cultural center for those interested in learning more about Buddhism and Chinese culture. Hsi Lai means “Coming to the West” and signifies the dedication of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order to spread the teachings of the Buddha to those in the West. The International Buddhist Progress Society, a nonprofit organization, is the chartered name for the temple.
